BLAND COUNTY DECLARES LOCAL STATE OF EMERGENCY

(Bland County, Virginia) Today, Bland County declared a local state of emergency in advance of the impending winter storm.
“Declaring a state of emergency in advance of a weather-related event allows state resources to flow quickly into Bland County”, said Cameron Burton, Bland County Administrator. Local governments around the Commonwealth have spent the week preparing for the upcoming event, mobilizing local resources and working with emergency services to establish warming shelters for citizens. Local law enforcement encourages residents to stay off the roads for their safety and the safety of emergency crews who will be responding during the weather event. “The safety of our citizens is of utmost importance. Please heed the precautions of Emergency Services and prepare yourself ahead of time”, said Board of Supervisor member Stephen Kelley.
