About the Treasurer

K. Adam Kidd, Ph.D.
Biography
Adam was born and raised in Bland County, attending Rocky Gap Elementary School and Rocky Gap High School. During his time in high school, Adam gained an interest in politics. This resulted in him serving two years as the student body president and as state president for the Virginia Senior Beta Club in 2009-2010.
After graduating high school, Adam attended Wytheville Community College before transferring to Radford University where he obtained his B.S. in Political Science in 2014. From there, Adam began work in the financial services industry as a financial advisor. In 2015, Adam launched a campaign for a seat on the Bland County Board of Supervisors representing the Sharon District (communities of Bastian and Ceres). Focusing on economic development, tourism, education, and broadband, Adam became one of the youngest supervisors in the Commonwealth. In 2017, Adam completed his MBA from Southern New Hampshire University.
In the summer of 2023, former treasurer, John Goins, retired and hired Adam as chief deputy to assume the role of interim treasurer upon his retirement. Adam was subsequently elected to a full four-year term on November 7, 2023. In July of 2025, Adam completed his Doctor of Philosophy in Public Administration degree from Liberty University.
