Job Title: Night Market Coordinator
Department: Tourism / Community Development
Location: County of Bland, Virginia
Work Location: 591 Main Street, Bland, VA 24315
Reports To: Director of Tourism and Community Development
Position Summary
The Night Market Coordinator is responsible for the planning, coordination, and operation of Bland County’s Night Market program. This position supports economic development, tourism, and community engagement by helping create a safe, organized, and welcoming environment for vendors and visitors.
The coordinator works alongside the Farmers Market Manager to align vendor participation, marketing efforts, and support the County’s Virginia Grown Farmers Market initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Plan and coordinate all Night Market events
Recruit and communicate with vendors, food trucks, and entertainment
Secure Night Market sponsors
Support event setup, operations, and breakdown
Ensure compliance with applicable health, safety, and permitting requirements
Promote events
Maintain communication with County staff, vendors, and community partners
Track attendance and submit basic reporting
Coordinate with the Farmers Market Manager to align vendors, marketing, and Virginia Grown initiatives
Maintain a positive and professional environment for vendors, staff, and the public
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and outdoor events
Valid Virginia driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in event planning, tourism, or community programming
Experience working with farmers markets or local agriculture initiatives
Familiarity with Bland County and surrounding region
Working Conditions
Evening and weekend work required
Outdoor work in varying weather conditions
Moderate physical activity, including lifting and event setup
Compensation
Minimum wage (in accordance with Virginia state law)
Estimated Hours
Approximately 15 hours per month
