Precautionary Boil Notice
Boil Your Tap Water
Failure to follow this advisory could result in stomach or intestinal illness.
The Bland County Service Authority in conjunction with the Virginia Department of Health requirements are advising residents to use boiled tap water or bottled water for drinking and cooking purposes as a safety precaution. The advisory area is for the above mentioned residents of the Bland Community only.
Do not Drink Tap Water without Boiling it first
As a precaution, affected customers should boil their water before consumption until further notice. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms that may be present in the water, Customers are asked to bring water to a boil for a minimum of one minute, then cool before use.
Also recommended:
- Throw away ice cubes and beverages made with tap water
- Keep boiled water in the refrigerator for drinking
- Provide pets with boiled water after cooling
- Do not use home filtering devices in place of boiling or using bottled water, most home water filters will not provide adequate protection from microorganisms
- Use only boiled water to treat minor injuries
Water Quality Samples will be collected for analysis. Customers will be notified in the same manner once the analysis is completed and the advisory can be lifted.
