Bland County Announces New Emergency Services E911 Coordinator

BLAND COUNTY ANNOUNCES NEW EMERGENCY SERVICES / E911 COORDINATOR

(The County of Bland, Virginia) –Bland County will soon have a new Emergency Services / E911 Coordinator. Jenna Dunn has been named to fill that position and will begin her new role on January 1, 2016.
Bland County emergency services operations is no stranger to Ms. Dunn. She has served as a communications officer for several years in the Bland County 911 Center, she is a member of the Bland County Volunteer Rescue Squad, as well as a member of the Bland Volunteer Fire Department. "We welcome Jenna to her new role," states Karen Hodock, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors. "She has a well-rounded understanding of emergency services that should benefit her in this position." Jenna’s formal education is associated with emergency services as well. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and she is currently working on a Master’s degree in emergency management.
The position as Emergency Services / E911 Coordinator has been in Bland County for a number of years. However, the role of this position is being modified in efforts to improve operations. The Emergency Services / E911 Coordinator will remain under the direct supervision of the county administrator and the coordinator will continue to work closely with all county fire departments and rescue squad as well as state and federal agencies to provide assistance when needed. The modification of the role is the assuming of more duties. Beginning January 1st, the coordinator position will also oversee the day to day operation of the 911 center in coordination with the Sheriff. "By working together, we seek to have a streamlined and efficient operation that meets the needs of the citizens and visitors of Bland County," states Tom Roseberry, who begins his role as Sheriff effective January 1st.
